EdgeRetail / Guard

Shrink accumulates quietly.
See where the exposure is.

Guard™ turns your existing store cameras into a real-time loss prevention system, surfacing suspicious activity, POS exceptions, and after-hours risk before they compound into inventory shortage.

How EdgeRetail Guard works

Transaction exceptions logged at end of shift are exceptions that already cost you.

Guard monitors POS activity and store access continuously — so your loss prevention team can investigate while evidence is fresh, not hours after the shift ends.

A refund cycle starts repeating. No one has flagged it.

Same associate. Third time this week. Merchandise returned, cash tendered, transaction voided seconds later. A pattern building across shifts that no one has connected yet.

AI detection overlay flagging transaction anomalies and refund pattern exceptions at the POS

Transaction anomalies, refund patterns, and POS exceptions — in real time.

The AI gateway cross-references your POS data and camera feed continuously. Register exceptions, unusual refund cycles, and behavioral anomalies flagged the moment they repeat.

One location's exception rate climbs above the chain average. You see it from HQ.

LP directors see transaction exception rates and behavioral flags across every store. When one location's pattern diverges from the chain, Guard surfaces it while there's still time to investigate.

What EdgeRetail Guard™ covers

Shrink visibility, suspicious activity detection, and after-hours monitoring in one module.

Guard works with your existing store cameras to surface loss-related data across your estate by store, by register, and by shift, so your team can act on what is happening now, not what happened last week.

01

Suspicious refund & POS exception visibility

Surface unusual transaction patterns, refund anomalies, and checkout exceptions at the register level — and correlate them with POS records for evidence-based investigation.

Real-time by store and register
02

Shrink & shortage monitoring

Track in-store behaviors that drive shortage — product handling, associate activity near high-risk zones, and deviation from operating routines — before the next inventory count.

Continuous shortage intelligence
03

After-hours risk detection

Monitor unauthorized access and unusual after-hours activity in real time. Alerts are immediate — not waiting for overnight footage review.

Real-time after-hours alerts
Configurable and network-ready

All detection thresholds, exception rules, and alert logic are fully customizable to your business rules and security policies. Data is available at store, region, and chain level, so loss prevention teams can benchmark risk exposure across your entire estate. Read the guide to AI-powered loss prevention →

Common questions

Frequently asked questions
about EdgeRetail Guard.

Does Guard identify individual employees by face or biometrics?

No. Guard's computer vision models do not identify individuals by face, fingerprint, or any other biometric characteristic. Our systems analyze behavioral patterns, transaction sequences, and spatial movement — not personal identity. EdgeRetail holds BIPA compliance certification and is compliant with GDPR and CCPA requirements.

How does Guard detect suspicious refund and POS patterns?

Guard cross-references your POS transaction data with camera-observed activity at the register in real time. When behavioral patterns — repeated voids, unusual refund sequences, or transaction anomalies — align with known exception profiles, Guard flags them by register and shift while the evidence window is still fresh.

Can Guard integrate with our existing POS system?

Yes. Guard is designed to work alongside your existing point-of-sale infrastructure. The AI Gateway processes your camera feed and cross-references it with POS event data, so you get register-level exception visibility without replacing your current systems. We support integration with major retail POS platforms.

How does Guard handle after-hours monitoring?

Guard continues monitoring store access and movement after closing time. Unauthorized entry events, unusual movement in restricted areas, and access outside normal operating hours are detected in real time and surfaced as immediate alerts — not discovered the next morning during footage review.
