Does Shelf require new cameras or specialist hardware?

No. Shelf works with your existing store cameras and CCTV infrastructure. The only addition is the AI Gateway device — a compact unit installed on-site that processes your camera feed locally. No new cameras, no additional network infrastructure, and no costly hardware deployment.

What kinds of shelf conditions can Shelf detect?

Shelf detects out-of-stock events and low-stock conditions, planogram deviations, promotional display non-compliance, and general shelf execution gaps across your estate. Detection runs continuously against your existing camera feed — by aisle, by zone, and across every store in your network.

How does Shelf handle planogram compliance across stores with different layouts?

Shelf's compliance models are configured to your specific planogram definitions and store layouts during setup. Each location's camera coverage and zone mapping is set up as part of onboarding, so compliance scoring reflects your actual standards for each store format — not a one-size-fits-all template.

Is video from our store cameras stored or sent to the cloud?

No. Raw video is never transmitted to the cloud or stored beyond the processing window. All computer vision inference runs locally on the AI Gateway device in your store. Only the structured outputs — shelf gap events, compliance scores, alerts — are sent securely to your dashboard. This is a core architecture principle, not a feature toggle.
